Passing the Torch Series Mar-Apr

Creating a "Leadership Development Team" in Your Congregation - Repeat Session

This is a "blended" class, with online on your own time advance work mixed with four group discussion webinars.

This class will help you to:

  • Imagine paths to leadership in your congregation as part of a larger plan of faith formation
  • Encourage a culture that nurtures new leaders
  • Help you to develop an understanding of how to include youth, young adults and people of color in your congregation's leadership
  • Develop a community of learning and reflection that appreciates new ideas and is patient with the small failures that come with innovation
  • Advance your seasoned leaders into new roles where they nurture new leaders
  • Develop a three year plan to help guide your congregation through this transformation

How the class is set up:

  • There are four 2-week sessions
  • You will have 2 weeks to do the reading and view the pre-recorded videos and presentations for that session at a time convenient to you.
  • At the end of each 2 week session, we will have a 90 minute live roundtable webinar discussion.  (See below for dates.)
  • Please plan to participate in all 4 discussion sessions!

What you will need to participate:

  • A computer with high-speed internet access and a phone that has long-distance service.  Having a webcam is optional.
  • You will be given a login and password for our online Moodle learning center and instructions for the live roundtable webinar discussions.

  • Session 2: What Kind of Leadership Do We Need for the Next 50 Years?. Materials available Mar. 13.  Discussion Session is Monday Mar. 26, 7pm EST
  • Session 3: Creating a 3-Year Leadership Development Plan:  Part 1 Materials available Mar. 27.  Discussion Session is Monday Apr. 9, 7pm EST
  • Session 4: Creating a 3-Year Leadership Development Plan:  Part 2
  • Materials available April. 10.  Discussion Session is Monday April 23, 7pm EST
