Youth at GoldmineGoldmine is an intense leadership school for youth focusing on self-reflection and leadership skills. Youth learn concrete leadership skills, learn to lead a worship in a wide variety of youth worship styles, and work to articulate the faith based grounding for their values and leadership. The day includes youth led worship, silent self-reflection time, and small group reflection time in addition to time for hanging out and playing together! The school is taught by pairs of youth and adult co-trainers. Youth co-trainers are former Goldmine students.

This school is for youth graduating from 8-12th grades ages 14-18. Youth outside that range who wish to attend Goldmine should contact the Adult Dean This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.">Evin Ziemer.

There are one or two offerings of this training each summer in the Central East Region. For 2014 the training dates and locations are:

  • Goldmine Youth Leadership School West ~ Sunday, July 6-Saturday, July 12 at East Shore UU Church, Kirtland, OH. Early bird deadline May 15, registration deadline June 15.
  • Goldmine Youth Leadership School East ~ Sunday, August 17-Saturday, August 23 at Unitarian Church of Staten Island, NY. Early bird deadline June 1, registration deadline July 15.

Costs: $395 early bird registration, $450 regular registration, $20 discount for full fair share congregations.

This year's Goldmine is longer than last year's so that we can better accomplish the program. It will still be an intense week, but we'll have a little more leisure time. To allow for a longer program and still keep costs under control, the program will be offered at churches. There will be showers. But youth should be prepared to sleep on the floor and assist with meal preparation.

Click here to register for either week.

What youth say about Goldmine:

"Chalice photoThis was the single most transformative experience of my entire life."

"Youth Leadership was by far the highlight of my summer last year and one of the most valuable experiences that I have ever had. I promise that I am not exaggerating at all!"
