The Central East Region's Disaster Relief Fund was created in November of 2012 after Superstorm Sandy caused unprecedented and wide spread devastation along the Mid Atlantic coast in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and as far as eastern Ohio. To aid our UU congregations, members and their neighbourhoods affected by this tragedy, the CERG leadership set up the CERG UU Disaster Relief Fund to collect donations to assist with storm damage clean up and rebuilding and renewal efforts. Initial efforts provided for emergency support following the storm. Later funds for on-going clean up, restoration and rebuilding when insurance and othr assistance programs are not adequate to cover the repairs were provided.

Since then, the fund has been converted to be used in the event of other disasters in the area. Any congregation in the Central East Region can apply to request funds following a catastrophic event. If your congregation wants to apply for a grant from this fund, please contact your primary contact for assistance and the application form.

The staff of the Central East Regional Group are very grateful for the outpouring of love and support and yes, money and supplies, from UUs around the country. This video was our thank you to you. It premiered at General Assembly in 2013.
